After you finish your orthodontic treatment, you'll get a retainer from Village Orthodontics to help keep your newly straightened teeth in place.
Post-Treatment Retainers
Now that your braces have been removed or you've taken out your final set of aligners, it’s time to enter the retention phase of your orthodontic treatment.
Retainers are designed to help keep your teeth in their new positions after treatment. Because teeth can naturally shift over time, wearing your retainer as instructed is an important part of maintaining your results. Most patients wear their retainers full-time at first, then transition to night-time wear only.

Replacing Your Retainer
Like a toothbrush, retainers naturally wear down over time and may eventually need to be replaced. Every day use can cause retainers to loosen, become discoloured, or develop lingering odours that do not improve with regular cleaning.
Although replacement timelines can vary from person to person, many orthodontists recommend periodically replacing retainers to help ensure they continue to fit properly and function effectively.
